Trump’s presence at the diaspora event is a win-win for both the US president — who is up for reelection next year and would be looking to win over the Indian American voter — and India as it works with the US to ease trade tensions. Modi, of course, is known for reaching out to the Indian diaspora on his trips abroad and has held several such events.
